iff is Ontario Creates feature film co-financing / co-production event at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Selected international and Canadian producers are brought together with international sales agents, US distributors, agents, equity financiers and executive producers for brokered meetings and exclusive networking opportunities.

Now celebrating its 16th year, Ontario Creates iff has introduced hundreds of projects to the international marketplace with over 100 successfully financed to date. Canadian and international feature film producers are invited to apply to iff. Registration is free but very competitive. Final selection is based on company track record, pitch package and suitability of projects.

Ontario Creates is pleased to announce that iff 2021 will be an all-virtual event. We're looking forward to welcoming this year's participants from their homes and offices around the world.

Ontario Creates values and supports diversity and gender parity at all levels and business roles within creative industries. We acknowledge that many communities continue to face systemic barriers, preventing them from participating meaningfully in these industries. Ontario Creates applies a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion to the evaluation criteria for this program. Applicants proposing projects/activities that support, reflect, and strengthen diversity and gender parity in Ontario are expected to tangibly demonstrate a genuine and sustained commitment to these equity-seeking communities*. Ontario Creates encourages applications from companies that are led by BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, or People of Colour) or Francophone individuals and applicants that otherwise meet the provincial definition of diversity.**

Ontario Creates is committed to fostering respectful workplaces in all sectors and companies we support.

Ontario Creates welcomes applications from people with disabilities, people who are deaf, and people who have barriers to accessing technology. If you would like to request an alternative process or format for submitting an application please contact us in advance of the deadline.

* Equity seeking communities are those that face significant collective challenges in participating in society. This marginalization may be caused by, but not limited to, attitudinal, historic, social and environmental barriers based on age, ethnicity, disability, economic status, gender, nationality, race, sexual orientation and transgender status. Equity-seeking communities identify barriers to equal access, opportunities and resources due to disadvantage and discrimination and actively seek social justice and reparation.

** The provincial definition of diversity states: the dimensions of diversity include, but are not limited to: ancestry, culture, ethnicity, gender identity, gender expression, language, physical and intellectual ability, race, religion (creed), sex, sexual orientation and socio-economic status.

What are participants saying?

"Our goals were to meet other likeminded producers for future potential projects, as well as introduce ourselves to a variety of executives operating beyond Canada, and both were successfully achieved." - Katie Nolan, Babe Nation Film (Ontario)

"iff 2020 took my script and put it on a pedestal, giving it that spotlight that made it instantly appealing to top tier sales agents and distributors from around the world. It’s the kind of boost all filmmakers dream of getting and I’m so grateful iff is there to provide it." – Sudhanshu Saria, Four Line Films (India)

"This was an exceptional experience. The enthusiasm from the fellow producers and from the executives we met with was invaluable. I will highly recommend this forum to other producers." – Summer Shelton, Story Farm (U.S.)

"It was intense but I got a very good idea of the market possibilities for my project which was great." – Jennifer Holness, Hungry Eyes Media (Ontario)

"It was an opportune time to launch our project and put it on radar of financiers and sales agents." – Kristina Ceyton, Causeway Films (Australia)

"It was a great event, hugely valuable to my company and resulted in many new connections and opportunities we’re excited about." – Will Woods, Woods Entertainment (Ontario)

"The main goal was to identify potential partners and this had really positive results. Also networking was excellent with executives and producers." – David Rosier, Decia Films/Prana Filmes (France/Brazil)

"The chance to connect with any feature film producers and grow my network was of immense value." – Lauren MacKinley, MacKinely Media (Ontario)

"One of our goals was to see how it worked and the type of professionals we could meet. This goal was definitely achieved!" – Asya Pavloskaya, Metra Films (Russia)

"[We] met an incredibly diverse range of filmmakers. Great to hear how other production companies raise funds for films." - Jake Yanowski, Canesugar Mediaworks (Ontario)

"I met a few other producers that I am excited about staying in touch with in general. Definitely wanting to explore the possibilities of working together." - Aimee Lynn Barneburg, High Pony Pictures (U.S.)

"This was the first introduction of the project to the marketplace, so one of our goals was to ‘test’ the interest and appeal of the project internationally – and we were happy to find interest in it from most executives and producers we talked with." - Gal Greenspan / Katy Roberts, Sweetshop & Green (Australia)

"We have participated in three other forums this year, and iff 2020 was by far the best organized and most technically adept. Communication was clear in the lead up to the event, and the organizers took the time to foster a spirit of collaboration and positivity." - Isabel Marden, Corporate Witchcraft (U.S.)
