My production includes certain scenes, clips, or footage of content that is included on the list of excluded content for “alternative means” productions. Does this mean the production is ineligible if it is only available online?
Exhibition via Alternative Means:
A production is excluded if it is in one of the excluded content categories. A production may contain limited scenes or clips of excluded content types provided the production itself is not considered to be in the excluded content category. The regulation provides greater certainty in this regard for documentaries, as documentary productions are likely to include various types of footage. Please note that to be considered a documentary, productions must meet the definition stated in the regulation, which is: “a film or television production that is an original work of non-fiction primarily designed to inform, but that may also educate and entertain, and that provides an in-depth critical analysis of a specific subject or point of view.”
