Monetizing Music File Sharing: A New B2B Model
Monetizing Music File Sharing: A New B2B Model was undertaken by the Songwriters’ Association of Canada (SAC) to propose a Canadian model for the monetization of music file sharing. A survey of Canadians’ music consumption habits revealed that a majority of those surveyed would be willing to pay an additional license fee on their Internet bill in order to legally music file share. The SAC proposes that music creators and rights holders should form a partnership with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in order to legitimize and license music file sharing in Canada and collect revenue from this activity.
